On Tuesday, the Georgia Senate approved a plan to place a statue honoring Justice Clarence Thomas of the U.S. Supreme Court at Atlanta’s Georgia State Capitol. This prompted outcry by Democrats and criticism from media outlets.
Republican-led Georgia’s state Senate approved 32-20 a party line vote to move Thomas, who is from Pin Point, Georgia. The statue will be located in the vicinity of Savannah. Senate Bill 69 will now be sent to the state House for more debate.
