President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is extending temporary amnesty status to thousands of Somali nationals living in the United States who would otherwise be eligible for deportation.

DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced on Thursday that the Biden Administration will renew and redesignate Temporary Protected Status, (TPS), for an 18-month period. This will allow over 2,600 Somali nationals, to live and work in the U.S.
